Bloodstain Evidence Workshop I: A Basic 40-hour course
Evanston, Illinois
This comprehensive 40-hour workshop demonstrates the flight characteristics and stain patterns of blood commonly related to traumatic events involving bloodshed. Students will conduct individual laboratory experimentation, applying motion and force to static blood, creating their individual documented standards for future reference. Documentation by measurement, sketch and photograph will be emphasized. This course meets certification and membership standards set by the International Association for Identification and International Association of Bloodstain Pattern Analysts.
This is a practical, hands-on course and the learning atmosphere is informal. Students should dress comfortably and be prepared for possible clothing stains. Most importantly, they must be prepared to work! Digital cameras, tripods and lap top computers would certainly enhance the students’ learning experience. However, these are not required. All other supplies including calculators and measuring devices are provided. Course notebook, laboratory manual and Volume 3 of the Bloodstain Pattern Identification manual are also provided.
This highly acclaimed workshop has been conducted at police training facilities, colleges and universities throughout the country. It is presented annually at Northwestern University, Center for Public Safety in Evanston, Illinois.
